MANILA – A magnitude 5.2 earthquake struck Occidental Mindoro 28 seconds past midnight on Saturday, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.
In a bulletin, Phivolcs placed the epicenter of the quake, which is tectonic in origin, at 19 kilometers southeast of Looc town at a depth of 74 kilometers.
The quake was felt at intensity V at Sablayan and Rizal, Occidental Mindoro; and intensity IV in San Jose and Paluan, Occidental Mindoro, as well as in Puerto Galera, San Teodoro and the City of Calapan in Oriental Mindoro.
Phivolcs said it does not see damage to property in the affected areas, although aftershocks may occur.
Meanwhile, the quake was also felt at intensity III in the cities of Manila and Las Piñas; Lipa City and Batangas City in Batangas; Abra De Ilog and Lubang in Occidental Mindoro; and in Alfonso, Cavite.
It was recorded at intensity II in Quezon City and other Metro Manila cities of Pasig, Marikina, Makati, and Valenzuela; Bacoor City, Cavite; and Looc, Occidental Mindoro.
Intensity 1 was felt in General Trias City, Cavite. (PNA)
