CALAPAN CITY, Oriental Mindoro – The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) continues to heighten its emergency response efficiency with its acquisition of a brand new ambulance as recipient of the BFP Modernization Act.
Calapan City Acting City Fire Marshal Sr. Inspector Angel Lynn B. Salvador presented to Mayor Malou Flores Morillo during the January 23, 2023 Monday flag raising activity a brand new Nissan Urban NV350 ambulance that conforms to international standards adaptable to Philippine conditions for transporting patients.
The ambulance a diesel-fed Nissan Urban NV350 was turned over to Calapan BFP on December 10, 2022 by the Bureau of Fire Protection under RA 11589 or the BFP Modernization Act but was only presented to the city government on January 23, 2023.
The BFP modernization program does not only improve its unit’s fire fighting capability but as well as ensuring the survival and emergency treatment of patients while on transport to medical facilities.
One of its unique features is a negative pressure system that is capable of eliminating at least three kinds of viruses for the safety and welfare of BFP personnel during its operations.
The ambulance is designed under international standards adaptable to the Philippine conditions as well as Euro IV compliant according to DENR requirements.
It also follows the Department Of Health (DOH) Type 1-Basic Life Support Ambulance standard for Type 1 ambulance. It has the design to provide care and avoidance of aggravation of the patient’s injury while being transported to medical facilities.
Part of its equipment is a two-way radio communication device, immobilization devices, monitoring and/or defibrillator, ventilation airway equipment, chest compression device, dressing and bandages, infection control and various EMS kits and supplies and obstetrical delivery set.
